I entered the world of “new” journalism approximately seven years ago by writing reviews and editorials. This, of course, was before blogging became such a hit. Since then, I have managed to turn my ramblings into a paying hobby which has helped me pay my college tuition and afford to go out on the town, buying dinner and drinks for those close to me.
The power of blogging continues to grow at a phenomenal rate. Trade shows and advertisers are slowly understanding that blogging can be utilized as an extremely powerful tool to reach new audiences. People such as John Chow have been able to use a combination of brains and luck to turn blogging into a real job with serious money involved.
Personally, I’ve not yet implemented proper monetization and advertising strategies because I launched my blog only a very short time ago. I hope to acquire corporate sponsorship and gainful advertising in the next few months—I still have a lot of work ahead of me.
Since I tend to read and write tech articles most of the day, I use blogging as an escape from mundane press releases and corporate bickering among the companies we all love or hate.
I look forward to the growing challenge of blogging for fun and profit.
